Terms of Service
By using familite.co, you're joining a community of families striving for less mental load. These terms ensure the service remains safe and reliable for everyone.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing familite.co (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. This is a collaborative digital handbook designed for family use. If you are using this on behalf of a household, you represent that you have the authority to bind that household to these terms.
2. Beta Disclaimer
Important: You are joining an Early-Access Beta.
familite.co is currently in a "Founding Families" beta phase. This means the Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE." While we work hard to ensure reliability, we do not guarantee that the Service will be free of bugs, interruptions, or data delays.
3. Use of AI & Financial Data
Our Service includes automated “Smart Parsing” features for bank statements and bills, powered by Google Vertex AI (Gemini) on Google Cloud.
- Verification Required (Transactions): You acknowledge that our AI engine extracts “draft” transactions which may contain errors. You are responsible for using the Verification Wizard to confirm and edit transactions before they are saved to your ledger.
- Verification Required (Bills): AI-extracted bills (from PDFs you upload or emails you forward to your family's bill inbox) are drafts and may contain inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing, confirming, and editing bills before saving them.
- Familite Does Not Pay Bills. Familite tracks bills and helps you stay on top of due dates. We do not process payments, hold funds, set up autopay, or initiate transfers on your behalf. Marking a bill as paid within the Service is a record-keeping action only and does not move money.
- Email Forwarding for Bills. When you forward an email to your family's bill inbox address, the email and any attachments are processed by the AI parsing pipeline described above, subject to the Privacy Policy.
- No Financial Advice. familite.co is a record-keeping and coordination tool, not a financial advisor or bill-pay service. We are not responsible for any financial decisions, missed payments, late fees, or losses resulting from the use of the Service.
4. Your Account & Family Workspace
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account, which is managed via Supabase and Google OAuth. You are responsible for the actions of any family members you invite to your workspace via invite links.
5. Data Ownership & Intellectual Property
Your Content: You retain full ownership of all documents, links, and data you add to the Vault or the Service.
familite.co is storage-agnostic; while we store your uploaded files, your external links (e.g., to Google Drive) remain your property and under your control.
6. Third-Party Services
The Service allows you to connect with third-party providers like Google Calendar. We are not responsible for the availability, security, or privacy practices of these third parties.
By connecting Google Calendar, you authorize familite.co to:
- Read your calendar list and event data (read-only access to calendars you can access).
- Create, update, and manage events and to set up push notifications for calendar updates. This includes events you schedule with family members from the app, which are reflected on each member's connected Google Calendar.
This use is solely to provide calendar sync, family scheduling, and family coordination within the Service and is subject to Google's terms and data processing. You can revoke access at any time via the Service settings.
Third-Party Service Providers
The Service relies on the following third-party providers to operate:
- Supabase — Authentication and database management.
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP) — Secure file storage (Google Cloud Storage) and infrastructure.
- Google Vertex AI (Gemini) — AI-powered bank statement and bill parsing.
- Google Cloud KMS — Key management for envelope encryption of sensitive data.
- Google Analytics — Anonymized website traffic analytics.
- PostHog — In-app product analytics and error tracking.
- Cookiebot — Cookie consent management.
Each provider is bound by their own terms of service and privacy policies. We share only the minimum data necessary for each provider to fulfill its function.
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FAMILITE.CO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE USE OR THE INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, FINANCIAL ERRORS, OR DISRUPTIONS IN FAMILY COORDINATION.
8. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, especially in cases of unauthorized use or violation of these terms. You may delete your account and household data at any time via the Service settings.
